GENERAL INFORMATION

The Souvenir MARCEL GILLES consists in a series of regional cycling road races organized on Sunday, July 30, 2017 according to the rules of the Fédération du Sport Cycliste Luxembourgeois (FSCL) and the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI). Its goal is among others to replace the GALA Tour de France / Mémorial Marcel Gilles (18 editions).

The event is held in the industrial zone in Contern, with Start and Finish in the rue Weiergewan.

The permanent office, registration, prize distribution and all other official offices are in a bus situated near to the finish line, in the rue Weiergewan à Contern

Showers and changing rooms are in the sports complex « Um Ewent » situated 40, rue de Syren in L-5316 Contern.

Anti-doping controls can be performed by the Luxemburgish Anti-Doping Agency (Agence Luxembourgeoise Anti-Dopage - ALAD). If so, they are taking place in the sports complex « Um Ewent » situated 40, rue de Syren in L-5316 Contern

No support car is allowed on the course during the races, except those provied by the organizer

REGULATIONS ELITE / U23 / JUNIORS / MASTERS

It is a regional race registered in the national calendar of the FSCL (category 1) and it is open for riders of the elite and U23 categories.

Juniors and masters can also participate in the race.

According the the regulations of the FSCL, the following riders are able to participate: contenders of Luxemburgish teams, contenders of maximum three foreign teams (non UCI Continental teams), as well as teams or individual riders of the following countries or regions: Grand-Duchy of Luxemburg, Rheinland-Pfalz, Saarland, the provinces of Liège, Luxembourg and Namur as well as the départements Moselle, Meurthe et Moselle, Meuse and Vosges.

The race is held as a criterium over a distance of 80 km (40 laps of 2 km). The winner is the rider who has accomplished the biggest amount of laps, in case of egality, the result is based on the points collected during the intermediate sprints, then on the number of wins in intermediate sprints and then on the position in the final sprint to the finish line.

Intermediate sprints are held after each 5 laps and the points are awarded as follows: 5, 3, 2, 1 points according to the position of the first 4 riders on the line. In the final sprint to the finish after 35 laps, points are doubled.

Only one common result list is edited for the race, in which the position of each rider within his category (elites, U23, junior or master) is indicated.

Material pits will be next to the finish line. In case of accident or mechanical problem, a rider can profit from one neutralized lap if he stops in the material pits. After the neutralization, the rider resumes the race, but he can't collect any points in the next intermediate sprint

Prices are according to the FSCL regulations.

REGULATIONS NOVICES / WOMEN

It is a regional race registered in the national calendar of the FSCL and it is open for riders of the novices and womens categories.

The race is held as a criterium over a distance of 60 km (30 laps of 2 km). The winner is the rider who has accomplished the biggest amount of laps, in case of egality, the result is based on the points collected during the intermediate sprints, then on the number of wins in intermediate sprints and then on the position in the final sprint to the finish line.

Intermediate sprints are held after each 5 laps and the points are awarded as follows: 5, 3, 2, 1 points according to the position of the first 4 riders on the line. In the final sprint to the finish after 35 laps, points are doubled.

Only one common result list is edited for the race, in which the position of each rider within his category (male novices, female novices, junior women, U23 women and elite women) is indicated.

Material pits will be next to the finish line. In case of accident or mechanical problem, a rider can profit from one neutralized lap if he stops in the material pits. After the neutralization, the rider resumes the race, but he can't collect any points in the next intermediate sprint

Prices are according to the FSCL regulations.

REGULATIONS CADETS

It is a regional race registered in the national calendar of the FSCL and it is open for riders of the category cades (male and female).

The winner of the race is the rider who crosses the finish line first after a distance of 40 km (20 laps of 2 km). The race is held as a road race

Only one common result list is edited for the race, in which the position of each rider within his category (male or female) is indicated

Material pits will be next to the finish line. In case of accident or mechanical problem, a rider can profit from one neutralized lap if he stops in the material pits. After the neutralization, the rider resumes the race, but he can't collect any points in the next intermediate sprint.

Prices are according to the FSCL regulations.

REGULATIONS MINIMES

It is a regional race registered in the national calendar of the FSCL and it is open for riders of the category minimes (male and female).

The winner of the race is the rider who crosses the finish line first after a distance of 30 km (15 laps of 2 km). The race is held as a road race

Only one common result list is edited for the race, in which the position of each rider within his category (male or female) is indicated

Material pits will be next to the finish line. In case of accident or mechanical problem, a rider can profit from one neutralized lap if he stops in the material pits. After the neutralization, the rider resumes the race, but he can't collect any points in the next intermediate sprint.
