STATEMENT OF THE ACC CONTERN

Cancellation of the 2020 edition of the cyclo-sport race / Gran Fondo « La Charly Gaul » on Sunday, September 6, 2020.

Due to the circumstances linked to the health crisis currently affecting the whole world and the general resurgence of the pandemic in Europe in recent weeks, the ACC Contern has reluctantly decided to cancel the 2020 edition of its traditional Gran Fondo "La Charly Gaul", initially scheduled for Sunday, September 6, 2020 with start and finish in Echternach.

This painful decision for the ACC Contern and a great number of cycling fans is the result of a mature reflection and is in accordance with the local and national authorities. It is guided by the precautionary principles that are required from any organizer of a bigger event nowadays. Indeed, we can currently not guarantee the full implementation and absolute respect, everywhere and in all circumstances, of the strict actual or future security constraints that are in place regarding the persistent risks of propagation of the Covid-19 virus.

On the other hand, the ACC Contern already announces the organization of the 31st edition of the cyclosportive "La Charly Gaul" for Sunday, September 5, 2021, again with departure and arrival in the beautiful city of Echternach.
