The world champion was a class of his own
Three riders, Bob Jungels, Tom Kohn and Quentin Borcy, have dominated the 89th Grand-prix François Faber by taking the lead of the race early on. But in the final, Jungels was clearly a class of his own. With three laps to go, he broke away and, alone against the wind, the junior time-trial world champion was at his ease, taking the win with nearly four minutes advantage.

Impressive Cohnen
Stefan Cohnen simply overflew the 24th Grand-prix OST-Fenster. While he was part of the decisive break from the start, the Dutch native with German license from the Luxemburgish Team of Differdange moved into the sole lead with 50 kilometres to go, nothing less than that. This fantastic rouleur has never ceased to put distance between himself and his chasers and finally won more than three minutes ahead of teammate Christian Poos, who was already third last year.

"Frandy-town"
"Frandy-town" is the word that Robbie McEwen used to speak of the place where he attended the Gala Tour de France tonight, and he was surely right. The whole town of Luxemburg only had eyes for them, for Frank and Andy Schleck, the two first brothers in the history of cycling that were able to climb together on a podium of the Tour de France. The performance was historical and the welcome that they received in Luxemburg lived up to the expectations, at a point that the other stars only played second roles today, as Voeckler, Petacchi, Greipel, Martin, Nuyens and also McEwen could attest.

Nice success
The 2011 edition of The Charly Gaul will surely be noted as one of the most successful in the history of the race, for the second time since the beginning of the event, more than a thousands of competitors have lined up in Echternach, 1002 exactly. With Ronald Norga, Sandra Huberty and Isabelle Golard, the winners of the B-course and of the women rankings were not at all unknown in the statistics of the race, but the palmares of the A-race saw something new this year: for the first time, an American rider has put his name there, in the person of former professional rider James Mattis.

Belgians on top
The Belgian riders have largely dominated the 37th edition of the International Cyclo-cross of the ACC Contern and it is former junior World Champion an eventual U23 National champion Joeri Adams who has taken his first victory as a professionnal rider in a very convincing way. Lots of riders from the flat country have travelled to Contern and they took nine out of the 10 first places of the Grand-prix de la Commune de Contern, with only Dutch rider Corné Van Kessel as non-Belgian in the Top 10. There haven't been much spectators however on this beautiful automn day in Contern, a day that was maybe too sunny to visit a cyclo-cross.
