100 riders at the start, 32 only at the finish : these two figures clearly illustrate the difficult conditions that the riders had to face at the Grand-prix François Faber 2009, in the year of the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the victory of the “Giant from Colombes” at the Tour de France 1909. The hail, the rain, the wind, the cold and the tough course caused lots of riders to give it up, but the riders from Differdange clearly had everything under control. They realized a perfect race and also had a tremendous result with the victory for Christian Poos and four riders among the five Best ... more ...

The Grand-prix OST-Fenster 2009 was some kind of weird race, where the groups splitted up and came together again several times during the laps, where the peloton always remained near to the early break of the day, but never was able to bridge up to them. Because under the eyes of prominent visitor Frank Schleck, Kirk Carlsen and Christian Poos were the strongest riders in the race, they were up front from the beginning to the end and battled out the victory among themselves in the last lap, where the American espoir champion took a tactical advantage from the strong performance of his team to hold off the rider from Differdange. ... more ...

Kim Kirchen attacked yet again and managed to break away with Frank Schleck. The elder of the two brothers had been rather calm until then and hasn't done any unnessessary efforts until then. This was a good choice since it was well Frank who was the strongest in the end, leaving Kim Kirchen behind him after a last acceleration on the small climb on the course. Frank Schleck wins the 13th edition of the Gala Tour de France with 3 seconds advantage on Alessandro Ballan, who bridged up to Kirchen at the very end to beat him in the sprint. Due to his constant present in the breaks all over the race, Andy Schleck was rewarded with the win of the intermediate sprints classification. ... more ...

New participation record in 2009 for the anniversary edition of the cyclo-sport race "La Charly Gaul" in Echternach. For the 20th time, riders have met in order to honour the biggest luxemburgish sportsman ever and the crowds, as well as the weather, were present. Never before, Yves Lehnert and Nico Thomas, the two riders that have participated in every edition of the race without exception, had to share the starting grids with that much people, 1077 exactly. Just like last year, the course was designed mostly in the "Small Luxemburgish Switzerland" with a trip to the North of the country and again, the beautifull landscapes were a major attraction for most of the contenders. ... more ...

The 35th edition of the international cyclo-cross of the ACC Contern won't be in the history books as the most glorious one. Despite the bright automn weather conditions, there weren't in fact too many spectators on the traditionnal course around the rue de Moutfort in Contern and the only moment when they really cheered was when Gusty Bausch and Pascal Triebel battled out for the best Luxemburgish rider title at the very end. Of course, there were lots of other things to do on this October Sunday in Luxembourg, where the shops and the automn trade fair were open for shopping addicts and where there were several more sports events, including football matches and a basket-ball match on the same day in Contern. Of course, the rider list was less attractive than in previous years, because the almost legendary Koppenberg cross had attracted the best riders with big prize money. But all this shouldn't decrease in any way the value of Kamil Ausbuher's victory, the former world champion and top-favourite who lined up in Contern at the head of a strong Czech armada and had to battle hard for the victory against his country-mates, especially young and promising Ondrej Bambula ... more ...
