Under terrible climatic conditions, Charly GAUL has won in June 1956 the stage of the Giro d’Italia with arrival at the MONTE BODONE (Trento) and he thus took an option for his first final overall victory in the Giro. 50 years later, Trento and the Trentino region want to honour this legendary performance of the Luxemburgish climber with a cyclosport-race that will take place on June 10, 2006 under the name of „GRANFONDO CHARLY GAUL “.

At this occasion, Voyages Emile Weber will organize, in collaboration with the office of Tourism in Trento, a BUS TRIP to the Monte Bondone, for riders who want to take part in the race, but also for people who simply want to be there as a spectator. Some tourist animations are also on the program.

PROGRAM:

Thursday, 08.06.2006: LUXEMBURG - TRENTO

You will be picked up at your residence. At 6h00, departure of the bus from Voyages Emile Weber at P&R Sud/Howald in direction of Saarlouis, Pirmasens, Annweiler (breakfast), then Karlsruhe, Stuttgart, Ulm, Kempten until Füssen (lunch). During the afternoon, the trip continues via Innsbruck, Brennerpass, Brixen, Bolzano toTrento. Night in the 4 stars hotel ADIGE, located at the edge of the city.

Friday, 09.06.2006: TRENTO - CITY VISIT

Breakfast in the hotel. In the morning, touristic visit of the city with a local guide. Tento is the capital of the region of Trentino, at the foot of the Dolomites. It is a town of art dedicated mainly to the style of the Renaissance. During the visit, you will be able to appreciate various facets of the city, like the dome located on a splendid place, the houses and palaces of the Renaissance, churches, the castle of Buonconsiglio and much more.

The afternoon is at your free disposal for additional visits or a bicycle ride.

During the evening, a common meal of all the participants of the trip is planned.

Saturday, 10.06.2006: GRANFONDO CHARLY GAUL

Breakfast at the hotel. This is the day of the cyclosport-race Gran-Fondo Charly Gaul. Hundreds of cycling-fans are awaited, among them also a certain number of people from Luxembourg. The technical organization of the race is insured by the „Club Cyclisto Francesco Moser “. The non-participants will be transfered by bus to the site of departure on the place of the dome in the centre of Trento.

The start of the main event of 148,9 km is at 08.00 hours and the start of the race Trento - Monte Bondone of 22 km is at 09.00 hours. The bus then will climb up on the Monte Bondone, where the arrival of the riders is planned in Vason (altitude 1655 m), at the end of a climb which was renamed recently in „Salita Charly Gaul”. The award ceremonies will take place between 15.00 and 16.00 hours. Return to the hotel in the afternoon.

Sunday, 11.06.2006 TRENTO - LUXEMBURG

After the breakfast, return to Luxembourg by the Brennerpass. Lunch in Kempten then return by the same route. Arrival at the P&R Sud/Howald during the evening, then transfer to your residence.

You will be located in the 4 stars hotel ADIGE, at approximately 3 km of the center of Trento in comfortable single or double rooms. The hotel also has a fitness area with sauna and whirlpool, a restaurant and a bar.
