Monte
Bondone will honour the great victory of Charly
Presentation
of the program on
50 years ago, in spring 1956, Charly Gaul has achieved one of the ever biggest
performances in cycling history by winning under terrible conditions the
Giro-stage on top of the Monte Bondone near Trento and thus setting the basis for his first overall
victory in the Italian National Tour. The Region of Trento
wanted to honour this tremendous performance during the mountain-top-finish of the
Giro 2006 on Monte Bondone.
But after the death of Charly Gaul a few months ago, they have changed their plans
and delayed the event by several weeks. On
ACC Contern,
organisor of the « Charly
Gaul » in Luxemburg (16th edition in September 2006), as well
as the foundation « Amis de Charly
Gaul » want to invite the many Luxemburgish
leisure cyclists and those of the border regions to participate in this event
during the whit holidays!

To present this event to a larger public, we invite all friends
of cycling, all friends and
fans of Charly Gaul and the
media representatives to the
Official presentation with
two-times winner of the Giro d’Italia, Gilberto Simoni
On Monday, February 13th,
2006 at 19.30 o’clock in the cultural centrum of CESSANGE
On this same occasion, Mr. Gast Zangerlé will present his
new book about Charly Gaul, which will be edited in a
few weeks !
