Another bunch sprint in a stage with a lot of suspense. The teams of CSC and Fassa Bortolo controlled the race and Kim Kirchen and Frank Schleck had to work, getting into the breaks or leading the field. Finally, the second one was luckier because his teammate Julian Dean won the stage and the overall classification of the Tour. Kim Kirchen finished 4th overall at 14 seconds and Frank Schleck 42nd at 6'19"

The 2 riders finish in the first group of 59 men and have been active today. Kim's team has chased hard for several kilometers behind a group of dangerous riders such as Dave Bruylandts, Tom Boonen and also Benoît Joachim. At the end Bartoli remains leader of the tour. Frank has been in a break 20 km from the finish but it didn't last too long. His teammate Julian Dean wins the stage and becomes second in the overall classification.

Kirchen: 3rd at 0" / Schleck: 44th at 6'01" of Bartoli

On the toughest stage of the TRW, the big battle begins with 25 km to go on the very steep "jump of the witch", as 11 riders break away with Kim Kirchen in this group. On the côte de la Vieille Route de France, there is another selection and Kim remains within the leading group of 6 riders. On the finish line, Michele Bartoli wins the sprint and the Luxemburgish rider is third. He is also third in the overall classification, 6 seconds behind his teammate Bartoli. Frank Schleck has finished the race within the bunch and is 48th in the general classification at 6'11".

The family of Kim Kirchen has organised a surprise party for his 25th birthday. On this occasion, the municipality of Niederanven, where he lives, and the ACC Contern wanted to honour him for his recent performances.
