Another superb time trial for Kim, a flat one this time. He finishes the Giro in a good way, being faster than overall winner Gilberto Simoni. Kim is 28th in the points classification and 38th in the intergiro classification. Very good results for his first "Big One" stage race.

After his bad day, Kim is with the best today. On the last climb, with 7 km to go, he attacks together with Caucchioli. Bad day: Kirchen loses a lot of time. But he has done a fantastic thing today: finishing the stage, and within the time limites (4 minutes within) on a day marked by mountains, rain, snow, fog and pain. A lot of abandons today.

Fantastic Kim Kirchen. In the time trial, not his best discipline until now, he finishes just 1" behind maglia rosa Gilberto Simoni. Very good stage for Frank Schleck today. He was in a group of 4 riders that bridged after 35 km from the peloton to the two leading riders. The 6 men (2 CSC) will have a maximum gap of 9 minutes and Schleck will win 2 of the 3 intermediate sprints. With 12 km to go, Frank takes the solo lead. He will be joined 4 km further on by the rest of the group, but has enough power left to help his teammate Eriksen win the stage. Frank Schleck is this evening leader of the best young rider classification with 2'45" advance and 4th in the intermediate sprint classification.
